Acting Senior Sergeant Charmaine Smith, Whangārei Area Response Manager says the victim was leaving his workplace when he spotted two unknown people inside a co-worker’s car. “At this point the victim has retreated, and the alleged offenders have climbed into his vehicle,” Acting Senior Sergeant Smith says. “As units pulled up the two alleged offenders were standing outside next to the stolen vehicle,” Acting Senior Sergeant Smith says. “This was a good result by our staff with prompt enquiries leading to the apprehension of these alleged offenders,” Acting Senior Sergeant Smith says. A 15-year-old male appeared in the Whangārei Youth Court charged with unlawfully getting into a vehicle and possessing instruments for car conversion.
