Shafaqna English- On Tuesday(11 Aug 2026), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reported that financial resources allocated to combating severe malnutrition in certain regions of Somalia have plummeted by over 80% compared to previous years. This drastic reduction comes despite alarming health data showing that among children screened at displacement camps in the southwestern part of the country, one out of every four is suffering from acute malnutrition. The funding shortfall threatens to undermine the already fragile humanitarian response in an area where food insecurity is widespread. This abrupt cessation of funding has left humanitarian organizations struggling to deliver essential services even as the number of people requiring assistance continues to grow. Several other Western donor nations have similarly scaled back or eliminated their contributions, compounding the crisis.
