Germany has delivered a €5.7 million (roughly $6.6 million) package of firefighting equipment to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES), including robotic systems designed to operate in conditions deemed too dangerous for emergency personnel. “Amid Russia’s brutal war, the challenges facing Ukraine’s State Emergency Service have become even more difficult,” Katrin Buchholz, Germany’s Chargé d’Affaires, told European Pravda. Robotic systems built for danger zonesThe package centers on four robotic firefighting systems – the Alpha Robotics Wolf R1, LUF 60, LUF-CRV, and Magirus AirCore TAF60. In a broader effort to preserve emergency and military personnel, Ukraine has increasingly turned to robots for performing dangerous tasks. Ukraine’s emergency responders have also been active abroad – in early August, a Ukrainian firefighting team helped extinguish a forest fire near a French town in the Gironde region, arriving after a 52-hour drive across Europe as part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
