The early-1980s Yamaha TR1 is a motorcycle that has always simmered just beneath the surface of the mainstream custom scene, with a cult following thanks to its quirky sport-touring roots and 981cc V-twin engine. Linus adapted the RSV4's Öhlins forks and Brembo braking hardware to the Yamaha frame by machining a custom steering stem. While the lower triple tree remains an original Aprilia component, the upper tree is a custom, CNC-machined design that accepts traditional handlebars rather than low-slung clip-ons. Making the rear Aprilia wheel and Brembo brake assembly play nice with the original Yamaha swingarm required extensive internal machining and clever rebuilding, but the resulting footprint is spectacular. Due to the motor’s unique 75-degree V-twin layout, the stainless steel exhaust system, handcrafted by Mad Exhaust in the Netherlands, snakes around the motor like an M.C.
