US-based lessor and investment firm 777 Partners has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Texas almost two weeks after creditors sought to liquidate what is left of the company that began unloading its assets more than a year ago. They pertain to a string of affiliated companies, including 777 Asset Management LLC and 777 Partners LLC, which had backed the now-defunct Australian start-up Bonza (Sunshine Coast) and existing Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines (F8, Kelowna). The bankruptcy court designated the proceedings as complex Chapter 11 cases and scheduled initial omnibus hearings for September 8 and October 13, 2026. 777 Partners was placed under a limited receivership on August 18, 2025. Prosecutors allege that from 2021 to 2024, Wander and others misrepresented 777 Partners’ financial condition and collateral, including double-pledging assets, to secure funding.
