Ronald Araujo has revealed the personal and religious reasons behind his decision to wear the No.33 shirt at Liverpool following his season-long loan move from Barcelona.
Araujo wore the No.4 shirt during his time at Barcelona, but the number is currently occupied by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, leading the defender to select No.33 at Anfield.
“It’s a number I’m very pleased on a number of levels to be wearing,” he added.
Araujo also expressed his excitement about beginning life at Liverpool and playing for a club he described as massive.
The defender will now begin his Liverpool chapter wearing a shirt number that combines memories from the start of his professional career with his religious convictions.
