Hyderabad:The Campaign for Release of Workers and Activists of Noida (CARWAN) staged a demonstration at Sundarayya Park, Baghlingampally, on Tuesday, four months after workers and activists connected to the Noida workers’ movement were detained. Participants demanded their release and accused Uttar Pradesh police of filing false cases, provoking violence and misusing the National Security Act (NSA). CARWAN representative Mahipal linked the arrests to a strike in Noida, where workers had demanded a wage increase from ₹9,000 to ₹20,000. He said activists Rupesh, Aditya, Aakriti, Srishti and Manisha had urged workers to remain peaceful, but police later picked them up. Aakriti and Satyam, he alleged, were booked under the NSA on fabricated charges and face 12 months’ detention.
