New Zealanders may have a new prime minister by day's end, with a crunch caucus meeting of the National party set to decide on Chris Luxon's leadership.
If a no-confidence vote succeeds, Mr Luxon will be replaced by one of his colleagues, just three months out from the November 7 election.

The accepted thesis is National's popularity slide is down to Mr Luxon, who has shocking personal favourability ratings.
