Letter: Where are the numbers? This year, 1.2 per cent of registered voters were surveyed across Rarotonga and Pa Enua via telephone calls and in-person interviews (the latter conducted only in Rarotonga). The proportion of voters polled across both regions reflects the breakdown of voters registered on the main island and in Pa Enua. The newspaper asked respondents: “Do you support seabed mining in Cook Islands waters in the future (in five years’ time)?” The poll shows that 55.2 per cent of voters oppose seabed mining, 22.9 per cent support it and 21.9 per cent are undecided.
