A Johnson County woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to insurance fraud in connection with a false burglary claim, according to the Kansas Department of Insurance. Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced Monday that 39-year-old Jinky Alcantara pleaded guilty in Johnson County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud. According to the department, Alcantara submitted false invoices to her insurance company as part of a burglary claim in an attempt to obtain money she was not entitled to receive. “Every time someone commits insurance fraud, it causes families and businesses across Kansas to pay more,” Schmidt said in a statement. The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated the case, which was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.
