A 42-year-old Rome man, Jay Farrell Jones, wanted on an outstanding warrant in Alabama was arrested this week following a search of a room at the Ashwood Inn and Suites on Shorter Avenue. Jones was taken into custody after officers executed a search warrant at Room 112, where they said they found methamphetamine, marijuana, Clonazepam, digital scales, glass smoking devices and two firearms. According to police reports, Jones allegedly attempted to flush drugs down the toilet while officers were executing the search warrant. Police also said Jones was a fugitive from justice with an outstanding warrant in Alabama. Officers reported that the quantity of methamphetamine, packaging materials and a large amount of cash found during the search were consistent with suspected drug distribution.
