Cook Islands launches first menopause awareness event for women Tuesday 11 August 2026 | Written by Melina Etches | Published in Local, National, Outer Islands ShareCook Islands women have established Te Marū o te Vaine to raise awareness, improve education and provide support for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause. Te Marū o te Vaine is coordinated by a volunteer organising committee made up of health professionals and community members committed to strengthening menopause awareness and care in the Cook Islands. Te Marū o te Vaine hopes the inaugural event will lay the foundation for an ongoing programme to improve menopause understanding, education and support for women throughout the Cook Islands. Following the event, the Cook Islands Family Welfare Association (CIFWA) will continue this important work within the community. The committee also acknowledged the generous support of its partners, sponsors and supporters, whose contributions have helped make the country’s first Women’s Midlife Health & Menopause Awareness Event possible.
