A Ucluelet firefighter is recovering from a serious leg injury after being hurt while deployed to fight wildfires. The injury could take four to six months to heal, according to a fundraiser organized online by Howe’s friend, Stephani. Howe and his family live in Ucluelet, where he is known for his involvement with the local fire department. Stephani has launched the fundraiser to help the family financially while Howe recovers. They say Howe is someone who regularly gives his time to help others, both in Ucluelet and in other communities.
