Developers have secured a $250 million loan to proceed with a massive 27-story, 560-unit development on an Astoria site that once made up part of the proposed Innovation QNS megaproject, according to multiple reports.
The plan, which included 1,436 affordable units, encompassed a largely industrial portion of 35th Avenue but also included a movie theater, several houses and the P.C.
However, officials close to then-Council Speaker Adrienne Adams said it was “misleading” to state that the Innovation QNS project was “dead,” noting that the project was “always going to be built in phases.”
Council officials also noted that Silverstein may have pulled out of the project but that BedRock remained invested in Innovation QNS alongside LMXD.
A spokesperson for Adams said developers are expected to “uphold their commitments” as different phases of the Innovation QNS project move forward.
