The North Carolina State Board of Education approved updated salary schedules on Thursday, Aug. 6. According to EdNC, the schedules show an 8% average pay raise for teachers, included in the state budget signed July 7. Monthly pay sits at $4,800 for beginning teachers across their 10-month pay period. "The $48,000 beginning teacher pay that the new state budget provides still leaves North Carolina below the national average," Davis said. The change shifts from a system based on Average Daily Membership and school growth to one that pays base salary monthly.
