Church Hill in Walthamstow was closed from yesterday evening (August 10) until this evening due to the unsafe building. One resident described the scene as "like something out of the Wizard of Oz". Leo, who has lived in the property for 30 years, said the incident occurred due to the timber giving way after many years. A Met spokesperson said: "On Monday, 10 August at 21:43hrs police were called to reports that the roof of a residential building had collapsed at Church Hill, Walthamstow. A spokeswoman for the London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters were called to an incident on Church Hill in Walthamstow.
