He said the impact of bovine TB could not be measured solely in terms of the financial cost of a breakdown. The projects have already attracted interest beyond Wales, with the approach referenced in the Godfray bovine TB evidence review and Northern Ireland’s TB strategy. The continued trials will now provide further evidence for the Welsh Government as it prepares to refresh its wider bovine TB eradication programme. “Findings from the continued work of these projects will also help inform work to refresh the TB eradication programme in Wales,” he added. The extension therefore moves the projects beyond a short-term trial and into a potentially important phase for Welsh TB policy.
