A roughly four-hour standoff in Rankin County ended with a suspect being taken into custody after he fell through the ceiling of the home he barricaded himself in, according to authorities. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday to the Cedar Ridge and Cedar Stone neighborhoods off Highway 468 near Pearl in reference to a burglary call. The standoff ended at approximately 8:25 p.m. when deputies managed to get inside the home and enter the attic before the suspect fell through the ceiling into the kitchen. On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office announced the suspect’s identity as Christian Banks Lane II, who also goes by the alias Banks Christian Nathaniel Lane. Lane was charged with residential burglary and booked into the Rankin County Adult Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
