Alert Bay RCMP are crediting the community with helping save three entangled otter pups that were caught in fishing gear off a dock in the village just off northern Vancouver Island. The three otter pups were found entangled in a fishing net that was left on the ’Namgis Dock on July 28. It was then transported back to Alert Bay “where it was successfully reunited with its family in the wild.” Police are also reminding the public to make sure they properly secure all of their fishing gear, including nets, ropes lines and other equipment.
