The expansion is part of a larger effort by the Iowa Flood Center to eventually have a hydrostation in every Iowa county.
The Iowa Flood Center is also using the growing network to improve drought monitoring.
In addition to the 18 new stations, the Iowa Flood Center already operates more than 50 hydrostations.
