More than 400 high school, undergrad and law school students participated this summer and observed court proceedings, visited appellate courts, and assisted with legal research and drafting.
The interns also participated in periodic “Lunch and Learn” sessions, featuring judges, lawyers and other professionals.
On June 17, 2026, I had the opportunity to visit The Second Department with other Manhattan Supreme Court interns.
What I appreciated most was that the Justices came to talk with the interns after the oral arguments concluded.
They spoke openly about what it actually takes to become an Appellate Division Justice.
