The “Feroza Begum Memorial Lecture and Scholarship Award 2026” was held yesterday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University, honouring the legacy of legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Feroza Begum. Highlighting Feroza’s contribution to Nazrul Sangeet, she said, “She did not simply sing Nazrul’s songs. Two gold medal recipients were honoured, while 11 students received the Feroza Begum Memorial Scholarship. Prof Obaidul Islam spoke about Feroza Begum’s legacy and the importance of preserving her contribution to music and culture. The programme concluded with remarks by Dr Priyanka Gope and Prof Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, reaffirming the importance of preserving Feroza Begum’s musical legacy.
