Emily Remler: The tragic life and death of the 1970s greatest guitaristWe all know what the ’27 Club’ is: Take one talented rock star shooting for the stars, and more often than appears coincidental, their life ends tragically before they can reach their third decade, but have you ever heard of the 32 Club? The American jazz guitarist was born in New Jersey in 1957 and began playing guitar at the age of ten. Though originally, the guitarist wasn’t a huge fan of jazz, her attendance at Berklee College of Music meant that she “couldn’t avoid” the genre. The project left her bop-swing behind in favour of more electric jazz-pop, but she’d never get to see the release. While on tour in Australia, Remler passed away from heart failure in the throes of a heroin and Dilaudid addiction.
