THE Postal Service is now warning Americans that even their stamps can’t be trusted amid counterfeit postage concerns. AdvertisementRetail Associate Patrick Selfridge from the post office in Avalon, New Jersey, about 45 minutes south of Atlantic City along the Jersey Shore, recently identified a major counterfeit postage issue. Selfridge identified the fake stamps when one customer dropped off hundreds of envelopes at once, immediately noticing one key issue. Local Postmaster Melissa Lomax then notified Postal Inspector Gregory Kliemisch, who confirmed Selfridge’s suspicions after investigating the counterfeit postage. Charges levied against them include conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and possession with intent to sell counterfeit postage stamps.
