The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested a suspected member of the banned militant outfit JMB in connection with the recent recovery of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The arrested man was identified as Ariful Islam. On July 24, an IED, concealed inside an umbrella, was found near the Motijheel Metro Rail Station. The DMP Bomb Disposal Unit later safely defused the device. Later, on July 31, a bomb concealed inside a pressure cooker and wrapped in black adhesive tape was found in a locked bag left outside a grocery shop in Ashulia.
