Police yesterday arrested two men for allegedly raping a 60-year-old visually impaired woman in Jhalakathi. The victim’s son filed a case against them yesterday, said Md Mahmud Hasan, officer-in-charge of Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station. Around 3:00am, Belal and Nasir allegedly took her out, claiming they were her son’s friends and would get her food. They allegedly took her by motorcycle to a remote mahogany plantation, raped her and returned her to the hospital around 5:00am. Dr Masum Iftekhar, superintendent of the hospital, said the woman had been staying in the ward because beds were vacant.
