Detectives have arrested five people, including the prime suspect, in connection with the attempted murder of BNP activist Alamgir Hossain in Pallabi. The arrestees are Md Rubel alias Langra Rubel, the prime suspect; Bappa alias Shakil; Hamidur alias Makhon; Parvez; and Rabbi. They were arrested during separate drives in Savar, Gazipur and Kushtia on Monday, said Mohammad Rakib Khan, deputy commissioner of DB’s Mirpur Division. One was even picked up from Kushtia,” DC Rakib Khan told The Daily Star. On Friday evening, a group of assailants opened fire on Alamgir while he was sitting at a tea stall in Pallabi.
