A key section of the Angorpota-Dahagram road, the only major road connecting Dahagram union, an area surrounded by India under Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat, has collapsed under the force of the Teesta river’s strong current. Around 10-12 metres of the road were washed away recently when the Teesta was flowing above its danger level. Sahidar Rahman, 50, of Simantapara, said he had travelled to Dahagram by motorcycle but found the road washed away while returning home. Saiful Islam, a member of Dahagram Union Parishad, said officials from the Roads and Highways Department visited the site after being informed. In the meantime, the local union parishad will build a temporary bamboo footbridge to facilitate public movement.”
