Candidate filing is open once more for the open seat on the Special School District (SSD) Board of Education in Subdistrict 2. The Subdistrict 2 seat represents the Affton, Bayless, Hancock Place and Mehlville school districts. The SSD Governing Council — made up of 22 representatives from each of St. Louis County’s public school boards — has been unable to elect a candidate for Subdistrict 2 at two separate meetings. At the June 1 meeting, the Governing Council voted three separate times and met an impasse each time. After the June 1 meeting, it was decided that Cuneo would hold the seat until the Governing Council votes again in September.
