Woman Charged With DWI Following Fatal Smithfield CollisionSMITHFIELD, N.C. – A 27-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on South Brightleaf Boulevard, according to Smithfield Police. Police determined White had been struck by a motor vehicle and the driver had left the scene. Taylor was arrested and taken to the Johnston County Detention Center, where police said a breath test showed an alcohol concentration of .13, above the legal limit of .08. Taylor was placed in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond pending an appearance in Smithfield District Court. Smithfield Police have consulted with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office concerning additional charges that could be filed in the case.
