The AI assistant has roughly tripled its user base in under a year, putting it in direct competition with OpenAI's ChatGPT at the billion-user threshold. Google’s Gemini AI app now counts more than one billion monthly active users, a figure that would make it the fastest growing product in the company’s history. Gemini had roughly 650 million monthly active users in October 2025, climbed to 750 million by February 2026, and hit 950 million in Alphabet’s Q2 2026 earnings report released in July.
