The Department of Justice (DOJ) is monitoring polling sites in Hennepin and Ramsey counties during Minnesota’s primary election to ensure transparency and compliance with federal law. The DOJ is committed to nondiscriminatory monitoring throughout the primary and general election seasons,” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said. United States Attorney Daniel N. Rosen for the District of Minnesota said, “Election monitoring is a critical to ensuring our elections have the trust of Minnesotans. The Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section enforces several federal statutes that protect voting rights, including the Voting Rights Act, National Voter Registration Act, Help America Vote Act, Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Acts.
