Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said a newly widened road in Gorakhpur would allow commuters travelling towards Varanasi, Lucknow, Nepal and several eastern Uttar Pradesh districts to bypass the city, easing traffic congestion and improving regional connectivity.
Adityanath, who was in Gorakhpur, inaugurated the two-lane Green City-Madhopur Bandha road, constructed and strengthened at a cost of around Rs 70 crore.
The newly constructed stretch is expected to ease traffic congestion and address the longstanding problem of waterlogging in the area.
Drains have also been constructed on both sides of the road to facilitate water drainage and mitigate waterlogging.
Highlighting the road’s importance, Adityanath said commuters travelling towards Varanasi, Lucknow, Nepal, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj and Balrampur would no longer have topass through the city.
