The camera has now been reinstated with North Yorkshire Police hoping it will encourage safer driving, reduce collision risk and improve safety for all road users. A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “As North Yorkshire Police is responsible for policing more than 6,000 miles of road, improving road safety and reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured remains a key priority. “North Yorkshire is one of the few areas in the country without a fixed speed camera. “The aim was to encourage safer driving, reduce collision risk and improve safety for all road users. Fixed speed cameras are a proven road safety measure that help encourage safer driving behaviours and reduce the risk of serious and fatal collisions.”
