Zardari Clears High Court Judges’ Appointments

According to a statement issued by the Presidency on Tuesday, the president approved the appointment of additional judges to the Lahore High Court, Sindh High Court, Peshawar High Court, Islamabad High Court and Balochistan High Court.
He also gave his assent to the confirmation of certain additional judges of the Sindh High Court and Lahore High Court as permanent judges.
The JCP had recommended the confirmation of four additional judges of the Peshawar High Court, a six-month extension for an additional judge of the Sindh High Court and the appointment of 19 additional judges to the Lahore, Islamabad, Sindh and Balochistan high courts.
In addition to approving the judicial appointments and confirmations, President Zardari also approved the equalisation of salaries, allowances and pensions of Supreme Court judges with those of judges of the Federal Constitutional Court.
The Presidency said the president also approved amendments to the 1997 order concerning the leave, pensions and privileges of high court judges.
