A historic bowstring bridge along Hwy 2 south of Prince Albert is set to come down, and a filmmaker who travelled across Saskatchewan documenting many of those bridges says it’s sad, but unsurprising.
On Aug. 6, Signature Developments posted a statement on their Facebook page announcing the Historic Bowstring Bridge south of Prince Albert would be demolished after being deemed “structurally unsafe and economically unfeasible to preserve.”
There were three that were in pretty bad and unfortunately the one just south of Prince Albert was one of them.”
In their statement, Signature Developments said their original vision for future growth along Hwy 2 including preserving the bridge as a heritage feature within the development.
However, he’s still sad to see the Prince Albert bridge go.
