You would have to be blind and deaf, completely ignorant, or as disingenuously positive as an American president giving a State of the Union address not to agree that the movie business is in decline. The truth is, if I owned a theater, I would be trembling right now; in fact, I would be seeking to establish some lines of credit for the years that lie ahead — perhaps looking into a double mortgage on the house or checking the Kelly Blue Book value of that Mercedes I had bought when movie money was big.
