Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has said now is the “perfect opportunity” for the public to have their say on introducing more pedestrianisation in Belfast City centre. The Minister was speaking after Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann which saw some city streets closed to traffic and a recorded footfall of over 1.6million during the eight-day festival. The Minister said: “When I came into office, I set out my Department’s Seven Foundations for a Better Future. “My Department has already been working diligently behind the scenes to prepare a new Transport Plan for the Belfast area. “In the next few weeks, I will bring forward a consultation which includes proposals for the expansion of pedestrianisation in Belfast city centre.”
