CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — An inmate has died at the Hamilton County Jail following an incident on the evening of August 10, 2026. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Corrections personnel were notified of an inmate experiencing a medical emergency. HCSO Corrections Deputies and contract medical personnel administered medical aid to the inmate identified as Colin Shannon. Shannon was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Service (HCEMS), where he was pronounced deceased. The District Attorney was notified, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) responded to conduct a full investigation.
