Goya-nominated actress Zoe Bonafonte (“El 47”) will play Spain’s first female soccer player, Ana “Nita” Carmona Ruiz, in “Veleta,” a Spain-Argentina co-production directed and co-written by Paco Torres (“The Magic of Hope”) and now shooting in Andalusia.
Goya winner Dani Rovira and “Vikings” actor Moe Dunford also star.
Popular on VarietySet in early 20th-century Málaga, “Veleta” follows Carmona, a young working-class player determined to compete in a sport closed to women.
