On Tuesday afternoon, August 11, R-Bar on Marine Parade, Brighton, announced it will be closing at the end of September. He told The Argus: “It is really tragic for the entire LGBTQ+ community. “I have been involved personally for 13 years, so it’s really difficult to imagine Brighton nightlife without R-Bar at its heart.” Mr Jones described R-Bar and Charles Street Tap, which is next door on Marine Parade, as two of Brighton's "biggest and oldest LGBTQ+ venues". He called for more to be done to support LGBTQ+ venues throughout the year, rather than solely at big events such as Pride.
