Long before Marcus John stepped into the title role in Hamilton at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, people were already calling him “Broadway.” The moniker took hold when John was a teenager in Maryland, years before Hamilton even existed. Hamilton eventually gave that manifestation a more specific shape. A lot of people from my high school came, and it felt like a huge celebration of all the things we had always said."
