Fire crews were alerted to the blaze in Beach Road, Scratby, just after 12pm on Tuesday. An elderly woman living in the destroyed bungalow was evacuated just before the fire took hold and is being looked after by her family. Crews also used a hydraulic platform to spray the site (Image: Newsquest)Her neighbour, 29-year-old Callum Williams, said the flames nearly reached their own home. Mr Williams said the roof of the woman’s bungalow has been destroyed and the fire was stopped when it was only four to five metres from his back door. Simon Mason, incident commander at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We want to remind people of the danger of having bonfires, particularly in this kind of hot, dry weather."
