(ABC 6 News) — Just a few days before their first preseason game, the Minnesota Vikings have named Kyler Murray as their starting quarterback. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the decision. Murray spent the first seven years of his career with the Arizona Cardinals before signing with the Vikings this spring. The decision also means 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy presumably will start the season as the backup QB unless he is traded. The Vikings will play their first preseason game against the New York Giants on Saturday, Aug. 15 at noon.
