A proposed new City of Kamloops bylaw would increase annual expense limits by 60 per cent and spell out when a politician’s pay can be withheld to recover money owed to the municipality.
City council will be asked Tuesday to give the new bylaw its first three readings.
The proposal would replace the city’s existing council remuneration policy — a move staff say will provide greater transparency, certainty and enforceability.
Beginning in 2027, the mayor’s salary would be reviewed annually against compensation in a group of comparable B.C.
