According to the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, police received a report of arson at the beach around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10. Witnesses said that the woman was seen setting fire to a newspaper box at the beach and then walking away. A police service dog was in the area at the time and quickly located the woman who matched the description of the suspect.
