“This Week” in 1976, 50 years ago: The new Alexandria post office, located on Sixth and Elm Street opened its doors on August 9.
The old post office has officially closed.
The handsome, dark brick post office, costing an estimated $1 million, was built in response to a community which changed dramatically since the old facility was built in 1910.
