The High Corner Inn near Ringwood announced on Tuesday that it had closed until further notice because of the New Forest wildfires. The pub said on Facebook that fires and associated safety risks in the area had prompted the closure. The inn said it would contact affected guests and update them when it could reopen safely. More than 100 hectares of New Forest heathland have been affected, an area equivalent to about 140 football pitches. The A31 remains closed in both directions, with damage to the road surface and fencing reported at the scene.
