In Lower Burrell, nearly 30-year-old traffic lights at the intersection of Wildlife Lodge Road and Leechburg Road and the intersection of Craigdell Road and Leechburg road will be upgraded. “Grants like these are vital to the long-term success in Lower Burrell,” Fabry said. “Investing in high-traffic intersection upgrades is critical to community safety and efficiency because well‑designed intersections reduce crashes, protect pedestrians, and keep traffic moving smoothly,” Pittman said in a statement to TribLive. Lower Burrell wasn’t the only local municipality on the grant list, but it was the only one in Westmoreland County. Brackenridge was awarded $198,000 for repairs to the traffic light at Freeport Road and Broadview Boulevard/Morgan Street.
