The “Pass Wide and Slow” awareness ride will start at Park Farm Oakley - a tack, feed and country store in Rectory Road.
Working with the national Pass Wide and Slow campaign, a charity ride and walk highlighting how drivers should safely pass horses on rural roads has been organised.
The event starts at 10am on Saturday, September 5, with riders and supporters meeting at Park Farm before following a marked countryside route.
Park Farm Oakley already stocks high-visibility clothing and safety gear for riders, and hopes the ride will urge drivers on the village lanes to “pass wide and slow” around horses, cyclists and walkers.
The Highway Code guidance also advises drivers to pass horses at an advisory speed of no more than 10mph.
